During the art therapy sessions I facilitated with women and gender-diverse individuals at the Breakthrough Program, I often came across random images—or rather, they seemed to find me—and began collaging them onto small cards. Each card was completed after the session ended. This process helped me process and integrate the wide range of emotions that emerged during the group. Looking at the set of cards now, they appear like windows of possibility—as if I were holding onto windows of hope for these individuals until they were ready to open them themselves.
